let me introduce you to...well, me!

My name is Samantha. My friends and family call me Sammi or Sam. I like Sammi because my late Aunt Phyllis gave me the nickname when I was young. But if I were meeting you for the first time, I would introduce myself as Samantha. So we'll start there. The more you get to know me, the more comfortable I'll be with you referring to me as Sammi.

I'm shy.

This blog is a big deal (for me) because I don't intend on holding back. And I am very good at holding back. I would contest that no one person knows all of me but there are a couple that know most. I have a handful of friends but I treasure each one. I am also deeply loyal to my family. They all contribute something to my life and who I am. But I want to expand my horizons. Reach out to new people and do something different for a change. Thus this blog.

So why My Banner Year?

Simply because that is what I intend this year to be.  You'll learn soon enough that I am weird about numbers and 2010 is such a lovely number and it's also the year I turn 25, another beaut. I plan on making changes and I want to share my triumphs and missteps, the ups and downs, the good and bad, with you.

When I began thinking about what I would resolve to do in the new year, I came up with all the usual suspects: lose weight; get finances in order; find a job; etc. But I don't want this year to be just another year. I've made those resolutions before and I've failed at each one, no mistakes about it. So the only resolution I really want to make this year is to write on this blog hoping that some one will get something out of it. Don't get me wrong, my year will still be mostly about losing weight, getting my finances in order, finding a job, etc., but I will talk about each one it turn here on this humble blog.

I hope I haven't lost you yet.

This blog is going to be set up by day. I haven't read a lot of blogs so I'm not sure how most have theirs set up. But this is going to be the way I'm doing it.

So Saturday will be my Health Day. On Saturdays, I plan on discussing topics such as weight loss, dieting, working out, mental wellness. All things related to my well-being physical, mental, and emotional.

Sunday is Social Day. Here I will talk about things like friends, going out, meeting people. Just social things in general.

Monday = Work Day. Most of you probably have a job. I do not. Not by choice, might I add. I don't have a lot of marketable skills but Mondays I will discuss everything relating to work. And that includes school. If I ever make it back.

Tuesday will be Home Day. My homelife isn't terribly interesting, I'm sure. But every gal has to have a place to vent about the goings-on in her home. Just so you know, I'm single and living with the rents. Don't judge me, please.

Wednesday is Word Day. I love to read and I want to write. So on Wednesday these will be the things I will be discussing. My problem with writing is I have a lot of ideas and none of the motivation to put those ideas on paper. Planning on changing that.

Thursday = Craft Day. I crochet. I like to crochet. I also like to do all things crafty: scrapbooking, jewelry making, etc. I like artsy activities as well, though I am not as adept in my art skills. Right now, I am focusing on my crochet work and I have a shop on Etsy where I try, try being the operative word, to sell my crocheted products.

Finally Friday. This will be Reflections Day. My week in review. On Fridays, I will talk about meeting goals and setting goals. Friday will be the summary of the week previous and an introduction of the week-to-come.

If you find one of these days to be more interesting than others, no worries. I will make a label for each day. So if you want to read a blog just about the trials and tribulations of the hunt (for a job) then you can look for Monday and there will be all I have to say on the subject.

If you're still with me, I have only a few more things to add.

I will have a poll on the left, as you can see, that will be updated no less than weekly. So please, answer. I find how other people think very interesting. I didn't minor in Psych for no reason.

Also, if you like reading what I have to say, then please subscribe. Subsribing will get you to the nickname stage so much sooner.

Finally, please leave a comment if you have something constructive, interesting, helpful, even controversial to say. I want your opinion. I value your opinion. So let me know what you think. Just make it relevant, thanks.

If you made this far, congratulations! You have reached the end of my first post. I hope you'll check back in often.

Let's get this year started!
